Introduction of the Fund
The Côte d’Ivoire Lottery (LONACI) has allocated FCFA 300 million (US$520,000) to assist orphanages and specialized centers as part of its 55th-anniversary celebration. This announcement was made during an event themed “55 Years of History with an Engaged and Responsible Press.”

The event took place at LONACI’s studios in Biétry, with coverage by Ivoire Matin. Marc Guédé Sakoa, executive director of LONACI Foundation, discussed the growing budget and activities. The foundation’s budget is set to increase from FCFA 2.3 billion (US$4 million) in 2022 to FCFA 7.3 billion (US$12.6 million) by 2026.

LONACI honored the Ivorian media for raising awareness on social issues, highlighting the LONACI Foundation Social Challenge—a competition launched in 2019. Abdoulkarim Ouattara, deputy director general, represented Dramane Coulibaly and commended the media.

The collaboration with media has propelled LONACI’s growth significantly, with turnover soaring from FCFA 5 billion (US$8.7 million) at its start to over FCFA 700 billion (US$1.2 billion) today.
