NWGB Partners with SARF for Educational Initiative
The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) joined forces with the South African Responsibility Foundation (SARF) to run an educational program at Ratheo Primary School. This event coincided with a Girl Guide Camp and aimed to assure young girls of their self-worth without resorting to risky behaviors.
Innovative Program for Youth Awareness
The program aimed to teach young participants that maintaining their future potential is more important than engaging in underage gambling. The message, “Queens don’t gamble their future, they game for fun,” underscored the risks of early addiction. An interactive educational play using four chairs symbolized key gambling terms like Luck, Risk, Chance, and Game, aiming to demystify gambling dynamics.
Empowering Youth Through Education
This initiative is part of the NWGB’s efforts to instill responsibility and self-confidence in youth. By harnessing unique methods of engagement, the board ensures that young people make informed decisions, prioritizing their education and stable future over gambling risks.
Aligning with Previous Programs
This latest initiative complements the existing “Taking Risk Wisely” program previously introduced at the school. Both programs focus on mitigating the dangers of premature betting and safeguarding the youth’s development.
Conclusion: A Commitment to Youth Development
The NWGB’s ongoing partnership with SARF reflects a strong commitment to empowering young learners with critical insights into responsible decision-making, reinforcing the message that gambling is not a viable path for achieving success. This aligns with global efforts such as those seen in BetConstruct’s initiatives in Botswana to promote responsible gaming.
