Strategic Partnership for Responsible Gaming
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has partnered with the Online Media Publishers Association (OMPA) to elevate responsible gaming awareness through strategic digital campaigns. This collaboration signifies a pivotal shift in consumer protection as Uganda’s gaming sector transitions towards a more digital and mobile-centric model.
Pillars of the Initiative
The initiative is structured around three key components. Public awareness aims to provide communities with precise information, digital outreach utilizes online channels to engage broader audiences swiftly, and consumer protection seeks to improve public understanding of gaming risks.
Shaping Industry Policies
Adrine Otunga, NLGRB’s Manager of Legal Affairs, stressed the partnership’s long-term objectives to not only influence public perception but also collaboratively refine policies promoting responsible gaming across various platforms.
Countering Misinformation
The partnership with credible digital publishers is seen as a strategic move to combat misinformation and promote informed gaming decisions. OMPA plays a critical role, committing to uphold transparency and accuracy in public communications.
OMPA’s Role and Commitment
Giles, President of OMPA, conveyed the association’s commitment to actively contribute to this initiative. Proposals aligned with the Board’s mandate will be prepared to ensure the public receives reliable information.
