After gaining approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), DraftKings has introduced multi-state online poker for its players in Michigan. This allows users to participate in a shared player pool that connects Michigan with New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The service became available on July 8, marking a notable expansion in the online poker landscape.

The MGCB’s endorsement highlights the robust partnership DraftKings enjoys with the Bay Mills Indian Community, ensuring all operational standards meet regulatory expectations. Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement Expansion
Michigan’s involvement in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), entered into in 2022, has opened doors for shared liquidity among states. Currently, Delaware, Nevada, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New Jersey are part of the agreement. Should DraftKings secure the necessary permissions, future expansions could see its player pool extend to Delaware, Nevada, and West Virginia.

DraftKings’ launch coincides with increased competition, as Playtech also introduced its iPoker platform in June across Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This adds another layer of competition to the shared liquidity market, which is rapidly developing with new entrants continually emerging.

This event marked Alberta as the second Canadian province to adopt a multi-operator online gambling environment, following Ontario.
