Crackdown on Emerging Networks

Amid intensified efforts, the Philippine National Police (PNP) are targeting illicit networks resurfacing as new, smaller entities. This comes after restrictions on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), as reported by local sources.

Persistent Challenges

General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., PNP chief, expressed concerns about ongoing activities in the country. These networks continue to engage in scams despite previous dismantling efforts. Authorities remain committed to eliminating this illegal activity.

Geographic Focus

Certain areas in Metro Manila such as Baclaran, Binondo, Parañaque, along with Palawan and Cebu, have been identified as hotspots for these operations. Former officials have also highlighted the persistent presence of these covert groups.

Collaborative Enforcement

The PNP is working closely with various agencies to enhance intelligence, surveillance, and enforcement efforts. This collaboration aims to suppress any remaining illicit operations within the country.

Implementation of New Measures

As part of the crackdown, the government issued measures to ensure the shutdown of POGOs, guided by Executive Order No. 74. Despite these efforts, a number of unauthorized POGOs continue to operate illicitly in various locations. The situation echoes the ongoing battle against illegal gambling in other regions.
