Chinese Embassy Issues Caution

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has issued a warning to its nationals, urging them to steer clear of gambling and online betting activities. This advisory coincides with the new visa-free entry policy for Chinese passport holders that allows a four-month stay.

Crackdown on Illegal Activities

Cambodian authorities are intensifying efforts against telecom fraud, internet scams, online gambling, and illegal detention. The embassy has warned citizens about deceptive high-pay job advertisements leading to unlawful employment.

Details of Visa-Free Policy

The visa-free arrangement, active from June 15th to October 15th, 2026, enables multiple entries for Chinese passport holders, with each stay limited to 14 days and requires an electronic arrival card.

Regional Reminders on Gambling

This advisory is part of a series of warnings from Chinese embassies in Asia. Previously, in February, similar messages were issued around the Lunar New Year in countries like Singapore, South Korea, and the Philippines.

Cambodia’s Regulatory Actions

Since its 2019 ban on online gambling licenses and the full prohibition in 2020, Cambodia’s casino industry has faced scrutiny. Authorities reported closing 91 casinos and raiding 250 suspected scam centers since 2025.
