Promoting Responsible Gambling in Matlwang
The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) recently took part in the latest phase of the Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme in Matlwang Village, JB Marks Local Municipality. This event was an opportunity for the Board to engage with local citizens and emphasize its commitment to responsible gambling.
Educational Initiatives and Community Engagement
The NWGB focused on raising awareness around responsible gambling practices through a series of educational workshops. Key topics included the prevention of illegal and underage gambling, as well as public education on the regulatory protections in place. By arming the community with this critical information, the Board aims to cultivate safer gambling environments.
Inspection and Compliance Efforts
In tandem with their educational efforts, the NWGB’s Law Enforcement Unit conducted thorough compliance inspections of gambling and general business operations. These activities are essential in enforcing gambling laws and identifying any illicit actions that could detrimentally impact the community.
Support for Gambling Challenges
Additionally, the NWGB underscored the availability of support for those facing gambling-related issues. They highlighted free treatment and counseling services offered by the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF). Individuals who require assistance can reach out to SARGF at 0800 006 008.
Community-Centric Approach
By aligning its efforts with community needs, the NWGB strives to ensure that gambling is conducted safely and fairly, maintaining transparency and compliance across the industry. This aligns with broader initiatives, such as the collaboration among African regulators to enhance gaming regulation and the reshaping of Uganda’s gaming strategies.
