Sands China Volunteers in Action
This week, Sands China gathered close to 450 volunteers for its fifth annual Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build in Macau. The team assembled a record-breaking 5,000 food kits for those in need within the community. Taking place at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, the event saw involvement from Sands Cares Ambassadors, local groups, government officials, and executives from Las Vegas Sands.
Supporting Macau’s Vulnerable
The food kits, geared towards aiding seniors, low-income families, and other marginalized groups, will be distributed by Caritas Macau. This year’s initiative, the largest to date, resulted in approximately 30 tonnes of food, including rice, noodles, and biscuits, sourced from local SMEs.
Community Collaboration
Nutrition-focused recipe cards, developed in partnership with Caritas Macau and health experts, were included in the kits. These efforts align with government health promotion strategies. Las Vegas Sands Chairman Patrick Dumont highlighted the initiative as a testament to the company’s enduring commitment to Macau.
Impact and Recognition
Caritas Macau’s Secretary General, Pun Chi Meng, commended the program’s meaningful impact, emphasizing its practical assistance to those who need it most. Sands China has now prepared nearly 17,000 kits for local beneficiaries since the initiative began.
Broader Sands Cares Program
Part of the wider Sands Cares corporate citizenship initiative, the food kit project aligns with the company’s goals to foster community development and social welfare across its global operations, including in Singapore and Las Vegas. Sands Cares Ambassadors have also contributed over 362,000 volunteer hours since the program’s inception in 2009.
